DARE TO DREAM

"There is no use trying," said Alice. "One can't believe impossible things." "I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as much as 6 impossible things before breakfast.” – Lewis Carroll.
This quote is taken from “Alice in Wonderland” and it always captures my imagination every time I hear it. It can be a challenge for all of us to think big, out of the box, be creative, or even believe in our own dreams.
The real reason why I love this quote so much is because of the response from the Queen: the goal of “six impossible things before breakfast.” Wow! I’m lucky I actually get breakfast and get my kids out the door for school on time! Can you imagine taking the time to believe in six impossible things BEFORE breakfast?
As a worship leader, sometimes I get frustrated because I get creativity-block, or writers-block. When it happens, I let my heart dream the impossible for a while and through prayer I believe and wait for incredible outcomes. To do this, we have to stay inspired and just as our tastes are different in music, food and favorite places to visit, so too are our ways to find inspiration.
So what does it mean to be inspired? It means finding the stimulation to do creative work. It means having ideas, dreaming, being filled with awe and wonder. It means being open to divine influence. It means actually taking the time to dream and to listen and be alone with ourselves and with God.
The dictionary actually finishes off the description by saying inspired means “breathing in.” That is a tough one for me because in order to be “breathing in” I have to actually take the time to do it in my busy life. However, breathing in is a God-filled invitation to each of us to find rest in Him, to take the time to draw near to Him, and wait and expect great things in return.
What if we actually did this? Can you imagine? I have some dreams that I am finally pursuing that I never thought I would be able to do. I admit I am a little scared but with God all things are possible. What is it that you dream about? What is it that you always wanted to do?

Re: DARE TO DREAM
My mom always said we are usually the one thing that stops us from achieving or even persuing the goal. The older I get I see how right she is. I find myself saying "you can't or who me?" This has inspired me to look past that and say "I can and should" Dare to dream- I like it. I need to come up with a Dream!
