I've been away from the whole blog thing for well over a year. A lot can change in a year. I'm a year older. I'm a bit lighter and certainly healthier. A year can bring a lot of heartache and a lot of promise. I'm like any of you--I've experienced both over the last year.
It's good to be "back" on the blog. (I'm not really sure if I have much of an audience anymore, but I don't suppose that's my job to worry about!) I recently re-connected with a very dear friend from years ago and it caused me to go into a deep reflection period. Examining who I am...what I was...and what I want to be. Along with this "electronic reunion" of sorts, I was also led into a conversation with my boss at work. We discussed my future and what I might do in my career. Both of these events were so mind-blowing to me. Mainly because I realized that my vision of who I am is often totally different than how others perceive me. I always saw myself as somewhat geeky, unconfident, and never really "good" enough. Second best. A back-up plan.
I write this not to fish for compliments. Neither do I write this to sound like I'm putting myself down. I really wanted to share what conclusions I have come to. Perhaps it will mean something to one of you "out" there, as well...
We are all created as individuals. We each have our own talents and gifts. We may not always feel like it, but that old saying, "God doesn't make junk" is true. (A bit trite, but true nonetheless.) Perhaps if we give ourselves the gift of looking at ourselves through someone else's eyes we may find that beautiful part that we can't see on our own. Not sure if you have someone in your life that can help you with that? Try looking at yourself how God sees you. You're his child. You're his love. You're HIS. And that's a beautiful thing.
