To encourage others is to actually give them the courage they lack. Encouragement boosts them up to a spot where they can breathe cleaner air.
To encourage others is to actually give them the courage they lack. Encouragement boosts them up to a spot where they can breathe cleaner air. It offers them a better vantage point on truth.
In Mark 6 we read the story of how Jesus, from his spot praying onshore, observed the disciples "straining at the oars" on the Sea of Galilee. In order to come to their aid, he walked across the waves to them. And they, not expecting Jesus and certainly unfamiliar with someone walking on the water, lost their grip on courage altogether. To this petrified and hysterical band of leaders, Jesus shouted, "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." He gave them the courage they lacked by identifying himself and raising their sights to the truth.
Many around us have lost courage. We can offer them a reviving dose of truth to help them find the courage they lack. As God walks to US on the waves of our inadequacies, we can walk his truths to others.
